The mechanism that propels the ship forward. It is an energy converter that converts natural, human or mechanical energy into ship thrust. Thrusters can be divided into two categories: active and reactive. The fibers and sails (see sailboats) that drive the ship forward by manpower or wind are active, and the paddles, sculls, paddle wheels, water jets, and propellers are reactive. Most modern transport ships use reactive propellers, and the most widely used is the propeller.
